1 cup water

1/8 tsp rubbing alcohol or vodka
1/2 tsp essential oil or fragrance oil
food coloring if desired

Potpourri Gel Airfreshner
2 cups concentrated
liquid potpourri
4 envelopes unflavored gelatin
2 Tbsp salt
jars to hold them
plastic wrap
rubberband for each jar
pretty lace or material to cover finished top
ribbon to tie it
Heat 1 cup liquid potpourri until almost to a boil,
do NOT let it boil.
Remove from heat and add gelatin and salt.
Stir until gelatin and salt are dissolved completely, add the remaining
unheated liquid potpourri and mix well.
Pour into clean decorative jars.
Cover jar with plastic wrap and secure with rubber band (this keeps
the smell until you're ready to use it). Allow to set and cool**
. Cover with piece of lace or airy fabric and wrap with ribbon
to decorate.
Before using, remove plastic wrap and recover jar with lace cover.
If the smell is too strong for the area size, instead
of removing the plastic wrap just poke some holes in it with a pencil
to allow the aroma to escape. You can control how much by the number
and size of the holes. You won't see them because of the cover.
Makes four 4 ounce jars.

Tips:
If using essential oils the liquid needs to be room
temperature when you add them so they don't evaporate with the heat.
Once it has set you can mash it up with a fork so
you are have chunks of fragrance gel. You can now make layers of
different colored gel in a tall glass vase it looks great.
**Completed
Gel freshners need to set at room temperature overnight until "set."
You can place the jars in the refrigerator if you need them to set
more quickly, but be aware that the smell will permeate the fridge.
Baby food jars, jars that held store bought gel
freshners, old candle jars all work great.
