Herbal Teas

General preperation directions

The Infusion method is used for the softer parts of the plant, flowers, leaves or stems.
Cut the herb into small pieces
Use 1 Tsp dried herb or 2 Tbsp of fresh herb per cup as a starting point, increase/decrease to taste.
Pour freshly boiled water over herbs in cup and soak for 7-10 minutes. Strain and drink

The Concoction method is used for making tea with the hard, woodier parts of the plant.(seeds, twigs, roots, bark, rhizomes)
Cut plant into small pieces.
Measure 2 Tbsp of fresh herb per cup of tea
Place the herb in saucepan, cover with cold water.
Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer for one hour.
Strain and drink.

Lovers Tea

1 Cup water
1/4 Cup honey
1 Cup apple juice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
6 cranberry tea bags

Bring water and juice to a boil, stir in honey and cinnamon, add tea bags and remove from heat. Let stand 1 hour add 6 Cups cold water. Serve over ice.
(store in refrigerator up to 3 days)

Lovers Tea 2

1 Tbsp China rose
2 tsp chamomile
1 tsp damiana
1 tsp mullein
1 tsp raspberry leaf
2 tsp rose hips

Peppermint Twist

equal parts
Peppermint
Lemon Balm
2 Tbsp per cup

garnish with a spiral twist of orange skin & serve over ice

Iced Cranberry Dandy

1 part cranberry
1 part dandelion leaves
2 Tbsp per cup
serve over ice

Faery Tea

3 tsps English Breakfast tea
½ tsp chamomile
1 tsp dandelion root
1 ½ tsp elder flower
1 ½ tsp hops
½ tsp mullein
½ tsp raspberry leaf
1 ½ tsp rosehips

Psychic Tea

4 Parts Damiana (Turnera Aphrodisica is preferred)
2 Parts Yarrow
2 Parts Spearmint
1 Part Lemon Verbena
1 Part Skullcap

Dream Tea

2 Parts Rose wheat
1 part each
Mugwort, Peppermint
Jasmine flowers
Cinnamon

Use 1 tsp of mixture for 1 cup of tea
Steep for 3-5 minutes

Strain & drink at bed time to promote psychic dreaming

Protection

1 Tbsp Breakfast Tea Blend
2 tsps Elder flower
1 tsp Linden flower
1 tsp Valerian
2 tsps Burdock Root
1 tsp Comfrey
1 tsp Hyssop
2 tsps Rose Hips

Divination Tea

1 Tbsp Breakfast Blend , or China Black tea
2 Tbsp Lemon Balm
1 tsp Eyebright
1 Tbsp Mugwort
1 Tbsp Rose Hips

Meditation Tea

1 Tbsp China Black Tea
1 tsp Damiana
1 tsp Raspberry leaves
2 tsps Chamomile
1 Tbsp Mullein
2 Tbsp Rose Hips

Meditation Tea 2

1 Tbsp china black tea
2 tsp chamomile
1 tsp rose hips
2 tsp elder flower

Rose Tea

1 Part Rosebuds
2 Parts Chamomile
1 Part Lavender
2 Parts Lemon Balm
2 Parts Lemon Grass

Rose Tea 2

4 tsp orange pekoe tea
1 Tbsp fresh rose petals (or 1 tsp dried rose petals)
1/2 tsp cinnamon stick chips

Headache Tea

Put a pinch of Lavender, Chamomile, Rosemary, and Mint into a coffee filter and make it like you would coffee. Or you can put the herbs in a spice ball and leave in hot water for 15 to 30 minutes.

Crone Root Tea

2 Tbsp wild yam
2 Tbsp licorice
3 Tbsp sarsaparilla
1 Tbsp chaste berry
1 Tbsp ginger
1 Tbsp false unicorn root
2 Tbsp sage
1 Tbsp cinnamon
½ Tbsp black cohash

For menopause and beginning a new cycle of life.

Alfalfa Mint Tea
1 Tbsp Alfalfa part used leaves
1 Tbsp mint parts used stems and leaves

Alfalfa is a natural diuretic and laxative, it is used in weight loss and to clean the system. It has eight essential amino acids and is also a good energy tea. The mint is added for flavor.
Immunity Tea

2 Tbsp Astragalus root (or Huang Qi)
a spritz of fresh orange

Pollen Defense Tea

1 Tbsp Elder parts used berries
1 Tbsp Feverfew parts used leaves,flowers , stems

Allergies, colds, bronchitis

Equal parts of each
Mullein parts used leaves and flowers
Thyme parts used leaves, flowers, stems
Marshmallow parts used-roots , leaves and flowers
Peppermint parts used leaves, stems
Blend and store in a tightly sealed container.
Use 2 Tbsp per cup

Anxiety Tea

Equal parts of each
Lavendar
Oats
Linden flower
Catnip
Lemon Balm
Catnip, flowers and leaves
Lavendar, flowers
Lemon Balm, leaves
Linden Flower
Oats, whole plant

Ginseng tea
2 tsp dried ginseng
Insomniac Tea

Equal amounts of
Hops
Chamomile
Hops flowers
Chamomile flowers

Rest Easy Tea

Created especially for relief after a stressful day.

1/4 cup dried spearmint
1/4 cup dried lemongrass
1 cup dried lemon balm
1/2 cup dried catnip
3/4 cup dried chamomile flowers

makes 2 3/4 cups blend

Blend all herbs thoroughly and store in an airtight container away from heat and light.

Use 2 tsps of blend for each cup of boiling water.

Valerian Tea
Caution: use only once a day at bedtime to induce sleep

Pour 1 pint boiling water over 1 tsp powdered valerian root. Cover and steep 10 minutes. Strain and sweeten. Add a pinch of mace as flavoring if desired. Drink warm.

Valerian is not a very pleasant smelling, other better tasting herbs may be added and it will still retain its effectiveness, just add mint or another herb when you add the Valerian.

Induce Sleep

2 Tbsp. Chamomile
2 Tbsp. Skullcap
1 tsp goldenseal
2 tsp elder flower
1/2 tsppeppermint powder
1 Tbsp pennyroyal.

Add mixture to 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Simmer until liquid is reduced by half. Bottle and label.

Dosage is 1-2 Tbsp to one cup of hot water. Sweeten to taste. Take at bedtime to induce sleep.

Calming Spirit Tea

Very tasty and wonderful iced or hot. These herbs are traditionally used to calm the nerves, settle the stomach, and uplift. Other herbs may be added, as desired.


1 cup dried rosemary leaves
1 cup dried lavender flowers
1 cup dried spearmint
1/2 cup dried chamomile
1/4 to 1/2 cup dried cloves

makes 3 3/4 to 4 cups blend
Blend all herbs thoroughly and store in an airtight container away from heat and light.

Use one tsp of loose herb blend per cup of water. Can be prepared in a tea ball, or mix the loose herbs with water in a tea pot and then strain tea into a cup.

You can also place a handful of the herb blend in a muslin bag and add bag to your bathwater for a soothing treat.

Memory of Summer Tea

1/4 cup lemon balm
1 Tbsp rosemary
1 Tbsp sage
2 Tbsp lemon thyme
1 Tbsp calendula petals
4 Tbsp chamomile
1 Tbsp fennel leaves
2 Tbsp spearmint

Store in a glass jar and use 1 tsp per cup of tea.

Winter Blues Mint Tea

1 Tbsp crushed rosehips
3 Tbsp spearmint
1 Tbsp catnip
2 Tbsp chamomile
1 Tbsp red clover
1 Tbsp dandelion

This is a pick-me-up tea great for winter days. Store in a glass jar and use 1 tsp per cup of tea.

herb and black tea blends

Homemade Earl Grey Tea

2 tea bags black tea
2 Tbsp dried bergamot leaves
1 Tbsp dried orange mint or grated rind of one orange


Lemon Spice Tea

2 tea bags black tea
1 Tbsp lemon verbena
1 Tbsp lemon balm
1 Tbsp red rose petals
1/8 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp cinnamon


Spicey Orange Tea

2 tea bags black tea
2 Tbsp dried orange mint or grated rind of one orange
3 cloves

 

Nervous Tension Tea

1/2 cup of skullcap leaves and flowers
2 cups boiling water
Chop the skullcap and add to the boiling water. Steep 15 minutes and strain. Sweeten with honey and drink several cups a day.

Skullcap is also used during drug or alcohol withdrawal to lessen symptoms of withdrawal and to treat involuntary trembling of the limbs, convulsions, and epilepsy.

Nervous Headache Tea

1 cup dried skullcap
1 cup dried sage
1 cup dried peppermint

Mix together well.
To use put 1 tsp herb mixture in 1 cup boiling water, cover and steep 10 min. Strain and sweeten. Drink warm as needed. Skullcap relaxes the whole system and is non-addictive.

Sedative Tea

1 Tbsp bee balm
1 Tbsp hops
1 Tbsp peppermint
1 Tbsp chamomile
1 Tbsp crushed fennel seed

Use 1 Tbsp of the herb mixture to 1 cup boiling water. Steep 10 minutes and strain. Sweeten with honey to taste.

Vanilla Tea

2 fl oz or 59 ml of all natural glycerin
vanilla bean that will fit in the bottle

let sit for 2 or 3 days before use
One cup of hot water poured over a bag of a good brand of black tea and 1/4 or less tsp of the vanilla oil.
Add sugar or honey to taste.
